The wax flow loop has been designed to examine the effects of wax and paraffin precipitation and deposition in pipelines in a laboratory flow loop using stock tank oil sample. The apparatus provides fast, accurate and reliable results for research of inhibiting and dissolving agents or quality control. The oil sample which can be untreated or treated with a wax inhibitor is circulating in the loop using an HPLC pump and is pre-heated to a set temperature while the cooling bath is cooling to its set temperature. The differential pressure and differential temperature are monitored. The slopes of these two parameters versus time are used to evaluate the efficiency the wax inhibitors.
