Catalyst Testing Versatile unit (CTV)

 In order to answer every kind of request, Vinci-Technologies has developped a half standard - half customized offer in order to match client requests at the best conditions : CTV which means Catalyst Testing Versatile unit.

 It is a modular equipment designed  to test heterogeneous catalysts in fixed bed or fluidized bed reactors under hydrogen or air/oxygen flow. Customer is requested to chose whether the reactor is CSTR or fixed bed. Then, specific options are offered (purification, additional reactor, heat tracing, high pressure separation, high performance stripper, gas analysis connections, automatic liquid sampling, etc.) which allows CTV to match perfectly customer needs and constrains, whatever the pressure, temperature, space velocity, feed purity may be.




CTV is a versatile tool which can allow to do investigation on  reactions and processes regarding :
  • Selective oxidation of olefins, paraffins and aromatics in fluidized bed
  • Defluidization studies
  • Catalytic combustion of hydrocarbons in fixed bed
  • Steam reforming of natural gas and naphtha in fixed bed
  • Autothermal reforming of natural gas and naphtha in fixed bed
  • Hydrotreating in fixed bed, such as naphtha and middle distillate HDS, mild hydrocracking, hydrocraking first   (HDN) and second stages, lube hydroisomerisation, Fischer-Tropsch paraffin upgrading, aromatic saturation
  • Hydrogenation reactions, such the selective hydrogenations of cracker cuts or of chemicals as glucose or benzene, CO hydrogenation to methanol, higher alcohols, GTL
  • Isomerisation of short and long paraffins, olefins, aromatics such as ethylbenzene and xylenes
  • Catalytic reforming of straight run and conversion naphtha, semi- and regenerative processes

Main basic characteristics

CTV allows collecting industrially relevant and reliable data on catalyst performances, mainly:
  • activity, measured as a conversion or a temperature required to attain a given conversion
  • selectivity to desired products, measured as a function of conversion
  • stability, estimated in comparison with a reference
  • response to inhibitors, measured as a reversible loss of activity
  • response to poisons, measured as an irreversible loss of activity
  • affect of activation (reduction, sulfidation)

CTV is designed for general purpose area. It is computerized in order to to collect relevant operating parameters, catalyst bed temperatures, pressures and flow rates.
