POROPERM-Porosity and steady state gas permeability meter

Description

Porosity and permeability are essential in determining the capacity of a geological reservoir to store CO₂, the efficiency with which CO₂ can be injected, and the long-term behavior of CO₂ within the reservoir. The POROPERM device is engineered to measure both porosity and gas permeability in plug-sized core samples. Specifically, the device determines porosity using an isothermal nitrogen expansion, combined with Boyle's and Charles' laws. Gas permeability is measured using the steady-state method, from which the equivalent liquid permeability and slip can be derived through linear interpolation. The typical setup includes a control console, a quick-release Hassler core holder, a matrix cup, and a data acquisition system that supports both manual and automatic functions. For studies requiring overburden pressure, a high-quality stainless steel core holder can be provided.
