ACM 3000-Acid Fracture conductivity system

Description

The ACM-3000 accurately mimics the acid fracturing stimulation process in carbonate formations. The device performs an acid etching pattern on carbonate core specimens confined in a fracture conductivity cell at realistic temperature, acid pressure and flow conditions while monitoring fluid loss during leak off. The system uses specimens having large exposed surface areas to enable more realistic etching patterns and also greater penetration in the leak off direction. Additionally, short term and long term conductivities of unpropped and propped acid fractures are evaluated under down-hole conditions of stress and temperature, using brine or nitrogen gas. Short-term conductivity tests evaluate the effects of formation type, acid-rock contact time, acid type, acid concentration, temperature, flow regime and high closure stress on the acid-etched fracture conductivity. Long-term conductivity tests analyze the effects of acid-etched fracture creep deformation, proppant embedment, proppant size and concentration under high closure stress.
