The ammonia production plant first converts natural gas into hydrogen gas by steam reforming, the hydrogen is then combined with nitrogen in the air to produce ammonia. For instance, Vinci Technologies manufactures metallic expansion joints for the extraction of caustic gases (H2S) from the vapors of the catalyst regenerator. The latter are installed in piping systems to absorb differential thermal expansion and vibration while containing the system pressure and can configured in axial, angular or lateral expansion joints.
