Description
The imbibiometer is an automated system that performs and monitors spontaneous imbibition and drainage processes, on up to 12 rock samples simultaneously. Fluid production data collected during the experiment allows the determination of expelled fluid volumes, hence saturation. Six drainage and six imbibtion Amott cells containing saturated samples immersed in the displacing phase are placed on a carousel. The latter periodically brings each one in the camera’s field of vision to monitor the evolution of the interface level over time. The corresponding volume is automatically calculated by a Vinci proprietary software. Video retrieval facilities permit an accelerated visualization of the processes. Moreover, an isothermal air bath is integrated into the apparatus to warrant high-temperature experiments.
